Editor, White House, Judicial and Legislative Intersection (Political Journalism): Leading and editing high-impact reporting and analysis on the relationship among the White House, Congress, and the judiciary with an accent on investigative enterprise, political reporting, and data-driven journalism. Focus on managing political reporters, developing multimedia and database-driven products, and explaining complex policy debates across CQ and Roll Call platforms.
Location: Washington, DC; hybrid work with daily reporting from the Capitol required
Salary: $110,000–$135,000 per year

’s CQ Roll Call team provides nonpartisan journalism and political reporting focused on Congress, legislation, federal government, and the forces shaping public policy.
What you will do
- Generate, assign, and edit news, analysis, and enterprise stories about the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.
- Lead, coach, and manage political reporters producing high-impact journalism.
- Develop content for video, audio, graphics, social media, events, and news media appearances.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors to connect people, policy, and politics across coverage areas.
- Analyze proprietary data from CQ and Factba.se and supervise Factba.se and its By the Numbers newsletter.
- Develop new products around Factba.se, CQ Vote Studies, and other databases while coordinating production workflows.
Requirements
- Strong record of high-impact reporting, writing, and editing, with excellent news judgment and copy-editing skills.
- At least 5 years of daily journalism experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with campaign finance, financial disclosure requirements, and FEC and lobbying disclosure deadlines.
- Mastery of AP style and commitment to nonpartisan, carefully reported journalism.
- Familiarity with congressional biographical data and voting records.
- Proficiency with WordPress, HTML, web features, video text editing, information graphics, and large language models.
