Senior Hydraulic Controls DRE or Technical Specialist (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan; hybrid work with reporting to the specified location at least 3 times per week. Travel required up to 25%. Relocation benefits may be available.

What you will do

• Design and release valve body assemblies and related components, including valves, solenoids, castings, and spacer plates.
• Develop globally harmonized commodity strategies, BOM reuse plans, benchmarking activities, and long-term technology roadmaps.
• Perform complex design analysis, CAD/CAE reviews, engineering evaluations, and validation of production changes in laboratory and vehicle environments.
• Manage engineering changes, PPAP, plant and supplier implementation, and cost, mass, complexity, and timing trade-offs.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing plants on process audits, capability studies, defect reduction, corrective actions, and production builds.
• Lead root-cause analysis for field and warranty issues and provide technical guidance, mentoring, coaching, and training to engineering stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in design and release; 9+ years is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Experience with major automotive subsystems, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical evaluation reports.
• Familiarity with CAD and CAE, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex assignments autonomously.
• Project management and teaching abilities, with experience providing technical direction and solving cross-functional engineering problems.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from Warren, Michigan and travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree in Engineering.
• Direct experience with transmission and hydraulic control components, transmission systems, and calibration.
• Knowledge of GD&T, PPAP, APQP, automotive quality standards, DFMEA, Red X, DFSS, and fishbone analysis.
• Experience with build-to-print or make parts and managing OEMs or suppliers on critical timelines.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
