Project Manager

Location: Operations Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA; onsite at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

What you will do

• Develop and expand collaborative applied R&D projects addressing national security and energy needs.
• Build relationships with senior leadership, project sponsors, research staff, and external partners.
• Support delivery and reporting for existing projects across the defense manufacturing portfolio.
• Create and maintain project controls, including work breakdown structures, resource-loaded schedules, cost estimates, risk management, and change control.
• Track project costs, prepare sponsor reports, manage project spending, and lead project status reviews.
• Develop project management training and improve project delivery standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field and three years of relevant experience.
• Experience in applied R&D project management and/or business or industry.
• Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams and managing competing project priorities.
• Practical project planning experience and significant knowledge of project management tools.
• Advanced proficiency with office software such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Q Clearance with SCI from the Department of Energy, including required substance-abuse testing and possible polygraph testing.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of current and emerging manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with ORNL financial and procurement systems.
• Working knowledge of Power BI, Excel Power Query, and Excel Power Pivot.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
