Industrial Engineer (Retail)

Location: Hybrid at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States; Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Travel to store locations and distribution centers may be required.

Salary: $79,000–$105,500 per year

What you will do

• Analyze and improve store and digital processes to increase sales conversion, basket size, member retention, and operational efficiency.
• Conduct time and motion studies, develop labor standards, and recommend workflow improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
• Evaluate staffing models, checkout performance, inventory flow, merchandising execution, fulfillment, and digital order workflows.
• Use operational and member data to identify trends, root causes, and performance gaps.
• Build financial models and cost-benefit analyses, track KPIs, measure ROI, and report progress to leadership.
• Partner with merchandising, marketing, IT, supply chain, and store operations teams to implement process improvements and support change management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• 3–5+ years of experience in retail operations, supply chain, digital commerce, or process-improvement consulting.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Familiarity with labor modeling, workforce management systems, and operational performance metrics.
• Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement frameworks; Green Belt certification is preferred.
• Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills, plus willingness to travel to stores and distribution centers.

Nice to have

• Experience in grocery, big-box, warehouse club, or omnichannel retail.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Master's degree in a related field.
