Pipelayer (Utilities)

Location: New Berlin, Wisconsin, United States. Onsite construction-site work requiring 8–10-hour days, occasional weekends, and travel as needed.

What you will do

• Perform strenuous manual labor at construction project sites, including site preparation, trenching, cleanup, and assisting craft workers.
• Load, unload, haul, hoist, handle, and store construction materials and equipment.
• Identify and expose underground and overhead utilities before excavation.
• Review trenching requirements and ensure required protection is available.
• Operate hand and power tools, pipe lasers, transits, and surveying or measuring equipment.
• Follow safety and incident-reporting procedures while keeping supervisors informed of site conditions and task-impacting actions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and knowledge of construction safety precautions and procedures.
• Ability to read construction drawings, interpret grade stakes, calculate grades, and apply practical mathematical concepts.
• Experience setting up and using a pipe laser and eye-level transit.
• Ability to perform manual work, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors near machinery, loud noise, variable terrain, and changing weather.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test, be at least 18 years old, and be willing to join the union or take the necessary steps to do so.
