Automotive Technician II

Location: College Station, Texas, United States; onsite. Working hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with occasional weekends, Saturday home football games, and emergency coverage.

Salary: $25.30 per hour

Transportation Services supports Texas A&M University through fleet, parking, and transit services for the university community.

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and skilled repairs on light- and medium-duty gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Service, adjust, and replace vehicle components including exhaust systems, batteries, belts, and hoses.
• Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot engine, transmission, body controller, electrical, HVAC, and aftertreatment issues.
• Complete and update manual and computerized service orders and administer the fleet-wide maintenance program.
• Install and program Canceivers, identify replacement parts, and submit parts requests.
• Drive DOT-regulated vehicles for test drives, disabled-vehicle recovery, and vehicle delivery.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Four years of related experience repairing and maintaining gasoline-engine vehicles and equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Class B vehicle operator license with passenger and air-brakes endorsements within 60 days of employment.
• Knowledge of light- and medium-duty vehicle maintenance and repair, diagnostic tools, maintenance software, shop tools, and equipment.
• Ability to work onsite in College Station, perform physical duties outdoors, and comply with DOT regulations and random drug and alcohol testing.

Nice to have

• Automotive or diesel trade-school training.
• Commercial vehicle operator license with passenger and air-brakes endorsements.
• Three or more ASE certifications or equivalent OEM certifications.
• Supervisory experience.
