TL;DR
Electromagnetic Spectrum Manager (RF/Defense): Managing frequency authorizations, system certifications, spectrum databases, and electromagnetic interference resolution for Missile Defense Agency missions with an accent on RF theory, spectrum coordination, and operational data accuracy. Focus on developing DD1494 certifications, coordinating Spectrum XXI requests, resolving EMI between developmental and deployed systems, and preparing Host Nation Coordination packets for globally deploying systems.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States. Travel up to 15% required.

What you will do
- Provide operational and administrative support to the MDA Spectrum Management Office under the Specialty Engineering Director.
- Manage the frequency authorization tracker for MDA missions and maintain accurate operational databases and reports.
- Develop and submit DD1494 System Certifications using STEPSTONE and EL-CID.
- Coordinate frequency authorization requests for developmental, fielded, and new systems using Spectrum XXI.
- Analyze and resolve electromagnetic interference issues between developmental and deployed systems.
- Document standard operating procedures, workflows, technical solutions, Host Nation Coordination packets, and site surveys.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience.
- Understanding of radio frequency theory and electromagnetic principles.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Onsite work in Huntsville, Alabama, with up to 15% travel.
Nice to have
- Federal or DoD spectrum management experience and graduation from a military spectrum management school.
- Experience with Spectrum XXI, GEMSIS, NTIA EL-CID, JSIR-O, and the NTIA Manual.
- Active Top Secret or SCI clearance.
- Knowledge of electromagnetic propagation, wave behavior, signal attenuation, and standard engineering practices.
- Experience with MATLAB, programming, scripting, or automation tools for data analysis.
