Head of Alternative Investments (Alternative Investments): Managing and optimizing a portfolio of alternative investments within the General Account with an accent on strategy execution, portfolio construction, manager selection, and performance oversight. Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Office environment with 10–25% travel for leadership meetings, manager due diligence, and stakeholder engagement.

What you will do
- Develop and execute alternative investment strategies aligned with portfolio objectives, capital strategy, risk appetite, and liability profile.
- Lead portfolio construction, asset allocation, and optimization across alternative asset classes.
- Source, evaluate, diligence, and select third-party asset managers and investment partners.
- Oversee manager onboarding, governance, investment guidelines, and mandate compliance.
- Structure and evaluate complex transactions and investment vehicles while monitoring performance, risk exposures, and return drivers.
- Prepare portfolio reporting for senior leadership, conduct market and sector analysis, and lead and develop team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- At least 12 years of experience in alternative investments, investment management, or related financial services roles.
- Leadership experience in portfolio management and a strong understanding of alternative investment strategies.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, portfolio management and analytics tools, and Microsoft Excel.
Nice to have
- Experience within a United States life insurer investment organization.
- Experience investing in asset managers, including ownership stakes or strategic partnerships.
- Master of Business Administration, CFA, or CAIA qualification.
