What you will do

  • Operate heavy equipment including graders, bulldozers, scrapers, pumps, excavators, tractors, and front-end loaders.
  • Excavate, move, and grade earth and support foundation, site, highway, and concrete construction work.
  • Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repair support; report defects and required repairs.
  • Follow company, OSHA, orientation, and training procedures, escalating safety and operational issues to project supervisors.
  • Identify underground and overhead utilities and coordinate trenching protection requirements before excavation.
  • Communicate project-impacting actions and conditions to foremen, superintendents, safety leadership, vendors, and other associates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, construction hazards, safety precautions, and practical mathematical concepts.
  • OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR are required.
  • Ability to read and understand grade stakes or site plans and follow and communicate written and oral instructions.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and affiliated with, or willing to join, the union.
  • Must be able to work 8–12-hour shifts Monday through Friday, occasional weekends, evenings, and variable work hours.
