TL;DR
Senior/Associate Hydrogeologist, Engineer or Technologist (Hydrogeology and Environmental Remediation): Supporting site assessment, monitoring, and remediation projects in Alberta with an accent on groundwater contamination management, regulatory compliance, and technical reporting. Focus on evaluating soil and groundwater data, driving complex project scope, schedule, and budget, and reviewing and stamping technical reports.

Location: Calgary, Alberta, or remote; work is also available from other Alberta offices

Salary: CAD 110,000–185,000 annually, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

  • Support and help manage site assessment, monitoring, and remediation projects, including scope, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
  • Prepare and review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in and promote hirify.global’s safety culture.
  • Provide technical direction, knowledge sharing, training, and mentorship to junior professionals.
  • Contribute to technical practice communities and professional innovation.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Engineering.
  • At least 12 years of consulting experience in contaminated site management, including assessment, remediation, and monitoring.
  • Membership in good standing with a professional organization such as APEGA, plus at least two years of experience reviewing and stamping technical reports focused on groundwater contamination management.
  • Experience writing and reviewing technical reports, preparing work plans and cost estimates, and presenting to multi-stakeholder groups.
  • Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool and working knowledge of Alberta regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience managing scope, schedule, and budget for complex projects; field experience with soil logging, sampling, monitoring well installation, field screening, sample selection, and quality control; and a valid, clean Class 5 driver’s licence.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in other Western Canadian provinces.
