TL;DR
MES & Industrial Automation Engineer (MES): Designing and deploying manufacturing system integration and automation solutions connecting Critical Manufacturing MES, Ignition, PLCs, SAP, and enterprise systems with an accent on machine connectivity, workflow automation, and manufacturing data collection. Focus on defining standardized solutions, integrating shop-floor equipment through industrial communication protocols, and supporting validation and deployment in regulated manufacturing environments.

Location: Remote - United States. Travel may include up to 30% domestic and international travel. Relocation assistance is not authorized.

Salary: $106,000–$145,750 annually, including base pay and variable incentive pay where eligible.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and support integrations between Critical Manufacturing MES, Ignition, PLCs, SAP, and other manufacturing systems.
  • Partner with manufacturing sites and engineering and digital technology teams to gather requirements and implement standardized automation capabilities.
  • Develop machine connectivity, workflow automation, data collection, and equipment integration solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for manufacturing systems projects, including solution design, vendor and contractor coordination, validation support, and deployment.
  • Define and maintain standards, templates, and best practices for MES, industrial automation, and system integration.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems and at least 3 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years; or a high school diploma/GED and at least 9 years.
  • Experience implementing or supporting manufacturing systems, industrial automation solutions, or MES platforms.
  • Experience with technical projects involving multiple stakeholders, functions, or manufacturing sites.
  • Experience translating operational and manufacturing requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience integrating equipment, PLCs, and shop-floor systems using OPC-UA, MQTT, APIs, or similar protocols.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Critical Manufacturing MES or Ignition.
  • Experience integrating manufacturing systems with ERP platforms, including SAP.
  • Experience in FDA-regulated, ISO 13485, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of computerized system validation, 21 CFR Part 11, recipe management, equipment integration, or electronic manufacturing records.
