TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Water/Wastewater) (Power Systems and Controls): Designing and delivering electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations with an accent on power, lighting, generators, controls, construction delivery, and quality control. Focus on analyzing existing systems, performing short-circuit, motor-starting, and load-flow studies, witnessing site testing and startup, and coaching junior engineers.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid schedule with up to 40% remote work

What you will do

  • Design complete electrical systems, including power, lighting, generator systems, and controls, for water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Analyze existing electrical systems and develop improvements for facility rehabilitation and expansion.
  • Support projects from pre-proposal and design through construction delivery.
  • Prepare and review electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Assess equipment, witness on-site testing and startup, and perform quality control reviews.
  • Coordinate schedules, budgets, clients, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams while coaching junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license in the state of Texas.
  • 6+ years of Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting design from pre-proposal through construction and working with clients and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, NESC, and NFPA 820.
  • Knowledge of power system analysis, including short-circuit analysis, motor-starting analysis, and load-flow studies; ability to travel as required.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing power, lighting, and controls systems for water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Transferable design experience in power generation, pulp and paper, chemical, midstream, or oil and gas refinery industries.
  • Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, AutoCAD, or Revit.
