Occupational Therapist (Behavioral Health)

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire, United States; onsite inpatient hospital environment. Per diem coverage primarily includes Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Orientation requires at least two days per week for four weeks.

What you will do

• Evaluate patients’ psychosocial occupational therapy needs and develop prioritized treatment plans.
• Design and deliver individual and group therapeutic interventions focused on ADL and IADL skills, stress management, communication, leisure skills, and therapeutic exercise.
• Re-evaluate patients, update treatment plans, and communicate with referrers and other clinicians.
• Adapt activities, tasks, and routines to changes in physical, sensory, emotional, and cognitive abilities.
• Consult with patients, families, and care team members on daily routines and functional modifications.
• Document assessments, treatments, goals, progress, communications, and aftercare recommendations in the electronic medical record.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program; new graduates may be considered.
• Active Occupational Therapist license from the New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Governing Board required.
• CPR certification required.
• Aggression de-escalation training approved by Elliot Health System is required.
• Previous experience is preferred but not required.
