TL;DR
Lead Systems Engineer (THAAD): Providing systems and interoperability engineering, force design analysis, and technical guidance for the THAAD weapon system and international partners with an accent on tactical data links, MILSATCOM, and Missile Defense Agency programs. Focus on identifying design deficiencies, coordinating technical efforts across government and contractor stakeholders, and presenting findings to senior decision makers.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; onsite support for the Missile Defense Agency

What you will do
- Provide systems and interoperability engineering, analysis, and technical guidance for the THAAD weapon system and international partners.
- Support the Engineering Lead in managing technical force design activities.
- Assist with international Tactical Data Link Architecture and attend data link conferences.
- Coordinate force design efforts with government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Identify design review deficiencies, develop corrective options, and document technical findings.
- Present interim and final results to senior-level decision makers and participate in technical meetings and exchanges.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical or scientific discipline; an advanced degree may be preferred.
- 10+ years of related professional experience.
- Technical understanding and experience with THAAD, DoD terrestrial and satellite communication systems, and systems engineering execution processes.
- Experience preparing and presenting reports to senior management, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time and work independently or lead technical teams.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in STEM and 12+ years of experience with missile defense or other complex, large-scale Department of Defense programs.
- Experience with TDL J, Link 11, Link 16, encryption systems, precision timing systems, and the DoD Risk Management Framework.
- Military experience with Air Defense Artillery, THAAD, or CDLI-M, and prior Foreign Military Sales program experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
