Focus on operating backhoes and other heavy equipment in variable terrain and weather, maintaining safe excavation practices, and coordinating issues with project supervisors.
Location: Rogers, MN, United States; onsite construction work with travel as needed.

What you will do
- Operate backhoes and other heavy equipment for site and highway construction, excavation, earthmoving, grading, and related work.
- Identify located or exposed underground and overhead utilities before excavation.
- Review trenching requirements with the Superintendent and ensure required protections are available.
- Inspect assigned equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and report defects or repair needs.
- Follow company, OSHA, orientation, and training procedures and communicate project-impacting issues to supervisors.
- Assist with training entry-level employees on maintenance and repair duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, operating hazards, and standard safety precautions.
- OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR are required.
- Ability to read grade stakes or site plans, apply basic mathematical concepts, and follow and communicate written and oral instructions.
- Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
- Ability to work 8–12-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, evenings, and changing work hours.
