What you will do
- Collect and properly handle venous and capillary specimens.
- Register outpatients, patients, laboratory contracts, and specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare, verify, and chart laboratory, pathology, and imaging reports.
- Review physician orders for errors and coordinate timely corrections.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supply inventory, including troubleshooting and ordering supplies.
- Support billing, scheduling, payroll, reference laboratory follow-up, employee training, and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
- Ability to perform laboratory assistant duties at an advanced level.
- Education and prior experience are not required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license and state-required minimum insurance coverage.
- Driving record must meet Covenant Health standards at hiring and throughout employment.
- Ability to follow laboratory policies, procedures, safety standards, and annual education requirements.
