Automation Engineer Lead Analyst (Electrical Mechanical Technician) - Express Scripts

Location: Whitestown, Indiana, United States. On-site, hands-on work maintaining pharmacy automation equipment; occasional travel to other ESI facilities may be required.

What you will do

• Maintain and improve the reliability, availability, and performance of critical pharmacy automation systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, controls, and computer-controlled electro-mechanical issues.
• Perform preventive, corrective, emergency, inspection, calibration, and validation activities on automated production equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, robotics, sensors, motors, drives, field devices, and pneumatic equipment.
• Analyze equipment data, maintenance history, alarms, fault codes, and failure trends to identify root causes and prevent recurring failures.
• Document maintenance activity in MAXIMO or similar CMMS platforms and support upgrades, continuous improvement, and on-call operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of hands-on experience maintaining automated equipment in manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, motors, drives, field devices, and automation systems.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on complex equipment and familiarity with MAXIMO or similar CMMS platforms.
• Ability to safely repair, adjust, calibrate, and validate precision automation equipment and identify root causes.
• Flexibility to support various shifts and participate in on-call coverage as needed.

Nice to have

• Associate degree, technical certification, or advanced training in automation, industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or mechanical technology.
• Experience in high-volume pharmaceutical, distribution, fulfillment, or production operations.
• Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance, continuous improvement, Root Cause Analysis, OSHA 1910 standards, robotics, industrial controls, or machine vision.
• Experience with data-driven maintenance strategies and occasional travel to other ESI facilities.
