Pipe Layer (Utilities) (Construction)

Location: Rogers, Minnesota, United States; onsite construction work with 8–10-hour days, occasional weekends, and travel as needed.

What you will do

• Perform strenuous manual labor at construction project sites, including site preparation, trenching, cleanup, and assisting other craft workers.
• Load, unload, haul, hoist, handle, and store construction materials and equipment.
• Identify and expose underground and overhead utilities before excavation.
• Review trenching requirements and ensure required excavation protection is available.
• Operate hand and power tools, pipe lasers, transit equipment, and surveying instruments.
• Follow safety and incident-reporting procedures and keep the Foreman and Superintendents informed of project issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• OSHA 10 certification, First Aid/CPR, and knowledge of construction safety procedures.
• Experience reading construction drawings and interpreting grade stakes; ability to calculate grades.
• Experience setting up and using a pipe laser and eye-level transit.
• Ability to perform manual work, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and work in variable weather, terrain, noise, and construction-site conditions.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test, be at least 18 years old, and join or be willing to join the union.
