What you will do
- Lead independent research projects of moderate to high complexity in sealants, elastomers, and new application areas.
- Scout growth opportunities for carbon and silica products and develop technical solutions for new applications.
- Design and conduct experiments, formulate materials, validate products and processes, and improve laboratory methods.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical approaches, modeling, and theory to generate actionable recommendations.
- Guide specialists, technicians, and junior R&D employees in laboratory activities, experimental design, testing, quality, and safety.
- Collaborate with R&D, marketing, manufacturing, technical service, sales, customers, and external partners to advance projects through Stage-Gate development.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a related technical discipline with generally 5+ years of related experience, or a master’s degree with generally 8+ years of related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of chemistry, materials science, polymers, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience in laboratory, product, application development, and project management activities.
- Strong capabilities in experimental design, modeling, data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of technical data.
- Experience with sealants or polymers is preferred; experience applying data science, statistical analysis, or machine learning in industrial or R&D settings is strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage customer interactions, prepare technical reports and presentations, and work in compliance with intellectual property, laboratory safety, SH&E, and Responsible Care requirements.
