TL;DR
Animal Welfare, Project Manager (Research Compliance/Animal Welfare): Managing projects and programs that advance research animal welfare and research excellence with an accent on the 3Rs, human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies. Focus on developing training content, advising researchers, supporting AAALAC accreditation, establishing standard operating procedures, and pursuing research funding.
Location: Dallas, Texas, United States. Ability to travel is required.

Texas A&M University System Offices support education, research, technology commercialization, training, and services across the system's universities, health science center, and state agencies.
What you will do
- Manage and direct projects and programs focused on research animal welfare and research excellence.
- Develop and deliver training on the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies.
- Network across system members and the broader research community to increase awareness of research animal welfare.
- Consult with researchers on the 3Rs, human-relevant model systems, and novel alternative methodologies, including support for investigator grants.
- Assist members with standard operating procedures and support accreditation with AAALAC International.
- Conduct related research, pursue funding opportunities, and promote member work in animal research and novel alternative methodologies.
Requirements
- Doctoral-level degree in animal welfare or a related field.
- At least three years of related experience.
- Demonstrated activity in animal welfare through training, teaching, and/or publications.
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation expectations, data analysis, experimental design, and animal research oversight requirements.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to multitask and support others cooperatively.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; the position is security-sensitive and requires a criminal history investigation.
Nice to have
- Certification in an animal welfare-related field.
- Prior grant funding for research.
- Knowledge of advanced human-relevant technologies and/or novel alternative methodologies.
