TL;DR
Director, Patient Advocacy (USA Rare Disease) (Rare Disease/Hepatology): Developing and executing patient advocacy strategies for individuals living with Primary Biliary Cholangitis and other rare liver diseases with an accent on patient engagement, advocacy partnerships, and patient-centered healthcare. Focus on gathering patient insights, reducing barriers to diagnosis and treatment access, and aligning cross-functional clinical, medical, market access, marketing, and commercial initiatives.

Location: Morristown, US; hybrid work in the Morristown, NJ office three days per week is highly preferred, with highly qualified remote candidates considered. Travel up to 25% may be required, including overnight stays and weekends.

Salary: $190,000–$250,000 anticipated annual range.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute patient advocacy strategies for Primary Biliary Cholangitis and other rare liver diseases.
  • Build strategic partnerships with national, regional, and global patient advocacy organizations.
  • Represent patient and caregiver perspectives across clinical development, medical affairs, patient support, marketing, market access, and commercial activities.
  • Identify unmet needs, diagnosis barriers, treatment access challenges, reimbursement issues, caregiver burden, and quality-of-life considerations.
  • Gather community insights through advocacy partnerships, advisory boards, patient meetings, and engagement activities.
  • Lead patient-centered educational resources, disease awareness initiatives, and support programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is highly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in patient advocacy, patient engagement, patient support, community relations, or related functions in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare organizations.
  • Experience supporting rare disease communities; hepatology or gastroenterology experience is strongly preferred.
  • Established relationships with patient advocacy organizations, patient leaders, caregivers, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of compliance, legal, regulatory, and industry requirements governing patient and advocacy organization interactions.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, presentation, project management, budgeting, grant management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
