Managing Director, Turnaround Consulting (Restructuring)

Location: Northbrook, Illinois, United States; collaboration in the office four days per week and work at client sites as needed.

Annual base salary gross: $275,000–$345,000, plus potential bonuses, long-term incentives, health insurance, and retirement benefits.

What you will do

• Lead strategic, operational, and financial engagements, including value creation, business transformation, contingency planning, and bankruptcy preparation or execution.
• Develop and manage client relationships while leading business development, project origination, and proposal efforts.
• Oversee liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, treasury operations, case administration, bankruptcy reporting, and restructuring plans.
• Review financial projections, business plans, KPI packages, budgets, board materials, and stakeholder presentations.
• Lead delivery workflows, operational and financial meetings, negotiations, and communications with senior executives, lenders, private equity firms, and legal advisors.
• Coach and mentor junior professionals while supporting a high-performing and inclusive culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program.
• Significant experience in strategic, financial, or operational consulting, investment banking, restructuring, distressed investing, private equity, lending, or relevant industry roles.
• Proven leadership in delivering high-value, client-facing work in high-pressure environments.
• Mastery of financial modeling, including three-statement models, 13-week cash flows, dynamic KPI packages, and complex ad hoc analysis.
• Experience developing business transformation, restructuring, and interim management solutions.
• Strong executive communication, presentation, reporting, supervision, coaching, and mentoring skills.
