Location: Remote designation with fieldwork throughout Southern California; applicants must live within reasonable driving distance of greater Los Angeles, San Bernardino, or Inyo County, California. Travel to assigned project sites is required, often off paved roads. No relocation or travel assistance is offered.

Salary: $27–$35 per hour, based on training, duties, and project type.

What you will do

  • Conduct pedestrian surveys, construction monitoring, archaeological testing, and site recording.
  • Collect field data, digital photographs, artifact identifications, GPS data, and mapping information.
  • Coordinate monitoring requirements and schedules with construction crews.
  • Maintain project files, confidentiality, regulatory knowledge, and accurate records.
  • Interact with customers and clients while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Follow company safety rules, OSHA regulations, and required safety training procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Completed archaeological field school or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of California experience across archaeological surveys, construction monitoring, and site recording.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license, personal transportation, and ability to travel to field sites.
  • Experience with GPS equipment and Field Maps, Survey123, or similar software; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
