TL;DR
Instructional Systems Designer (Educational Technology): Designing and developing US Coast Guard training courses, assessments, practical exercises, and training products with an accent on instructional systems development, pilot studies, and compliance with USCG standards. Focus on creating reliable competency tests, evaluating pilot training experiences, revising materials based on feedback, and documenting results.
Location: Onsite in Charleston, South Carolina, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

What you will do
- Prepare instructional design documents, storyboards, and content outlines in accordance with USCG requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Select delivery methods and media for human performance development and competency testing.
- Design tests and practical application exercises that reliably measure task performance.
- Conduct formative and summative evaluations, including pilot studies, and develop pilot plans and reports.
- Revise training products based on review feedback and pilot-study data.
- Coordinate with government and contract personnel while overseeing the completion of ISD projects.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Instructional Systems, Instructional Systems Technology, Instructional and Performance Technology, or Education with an Educational Technology concentration; five years of related documented experience may substitute.
- At least two years of experience applying the Instructional Systems Development process to courses and training interventions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe software, and computer graphics programs.
- Ability to observe performance at government facilities, vessels, and platforms, including climbing ladders when required by the task order.
- Successful SSBI background investigation is required; an E-QIP background check, fingerprints, and SECRET clearance may be required.
- Resume and OF-306 submission required; employment depends on government verification of qualifications.
