TL;DR
Senior Test Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical Compliance): Coordinating and performing qualification testing for rugged commercial and military electronics with an accent on environmental, electromagnetic compatibility, power, and safety testing. Focus on diagnosing and resolving compliance failures, developing test plans, analyzing measurement data, and leading small project groups.

Location: Hiawatha, Iowa, United States; full-time on-site with 20%+ travel required

What you will do

  • Coordinate and perform qualification testing for commercial and military-grade rugged electronics.
  • Conduct environmental, electromagnetic compatibility, power, and safety tests, including diagnostic procedures and performance measurements.
  • Analyze test data, investigate failures, troubleshoot non-compliance issues, and recommend product or process changes.
  • Develop test strategies and plans with Systems, engineering, and design teams.
  • Coordinate internal testing and external laboratories, including procedures, quotations, scheduling, and witnessed tests.
  • Lead peer reviews, mentor department members, and oversee small project groups.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Person: US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected person.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of engineering experience; alternatively, 10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Current valid US driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems, compliance standards, and electrical or mechanical engineering theory.
  • Experience with wire harnesses and cables, computer hardware, systems integration, and troubleshooting computer-based systems.
  • Ability to use testing instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and EMC equipment.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of electrical or mechanical component building experience.
  • 5+ years of CAD software experience, including tools such as Altium Designer, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or LTspice.
  • Experience with advanced testing equipment and computer equipment such as firewalls, switches, data acquisition systems, UPS units, and server racks.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience.
