TL;DR
Staff Fullstack Engineer - Realtime and Personalization (AI, React, Ruby/Go/Java/Kotlin): Building AI-native realtime and personalization systems that help marketers create value from customer data with an accent on end-to-end architecture, scalable APIs, and fullstack technical direction. Focus on designing modular React applications, building distributed backend systems, mentoring engineers, and maintaining scalability, observability, and security in production.
Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with three days per week in the office
Salary: JPY 14,000,000–17,000,000 per year

What you will do
- Drive end-to-end technical architecture and make high-stakes decisions balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
- Unblock squad members across frontend and backend development and provide technical guidance.
- Design and oversee fullstack architecture, including modular and consistent React applications.
- Partner with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to break down complex requirements and deliver projects on time.
- Mentor Senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design patterns, and operational excellence.
- Build for scalability, observability, and security, and participate in the production on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience and a strong record of shipping complex products.
- Deep backend development expertise with Ruby, Go, Java, or Kotlin, including database design and API scalability.
- Strong architectural knowledge of the React ecosystem, including modular and testable frontend architecture.
- Experience working in agile, collaborative environments and proactively removing blockers.
- Basic conversational English is required, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Production experience integrating Generative AI, LLM, or AI-agent solutions.
- Ruby on Rails experience.
- Distributed systems experience.
- Experience working with global teams across different time zones.
