Emergency and Disaster Management School Instructor

Location: Yorktown, Virginia, United States; training at various U.S. Coast Guard locations in CONUS and OCONUS. Frequent travel required. Schedule: Monday–Friday, hours determined by the Site Lead.

What you will do

• Deliver instruction on Incident Command System deployment under the National Incident Management System.
• Teach emergency response systems as they apply to the U.S. Coast Guard and other government entities.
• Prepare and deliver technical ICS course material in classroom, facilitated online, and virtual training formats.
• Facilitate high-fidelity ICS scenarios and performance-based training.
• Set up, manage, and oversee classrooms, schedules, materials, student conduct, and instructional quality.
• Collaborate with government and contract team members while maintaining accurate and timely work products.

Requirements

• Three years of experience as a primary classroom instructor.
• Seven years of field or operational experience with OHS, DoD, or another agency deploying the Incident Command System.
• Experience supporting all-risk/all-hazard emergency response missions under the National Response Framework.
• Ability to deliver ICS courses according to instructor guides, including content, sequencing, timing, audiovisual presentation, and methodology.
• Ability to manage classes and facilitate realistic, performance-based ICS scenarios.
• No security clearance required.

Nice to have

• Type 3 ICS qualification in a NIMS-compliant certification program.
• Experience operating under NIMS/ICS during a Type 3 incident.
• Participation in an HSEEP-compliant exercise and understanding of the HSEEP Exercise Cycle.
