TL;DR
Staff Software Engineer, Networking (Cloud/Kubernetes Networking): Design and build software-defined networking capabilities, control planes, services, and automation for secure, reliable, and scalable communication across Peregrine with an accent on routing, traffic management, service connectivity, and observability. Focus on designing safe configuration and policy systems, debugging complex connectivity issues across application, Kubernetes, cloud, and network boundaries, and driving architectural direction.
Location: Onsite in or around offices in San Francisco, Washington, DC, or New York City
Salary: $200,000–$275,000 annually, plus benefits, potential equity, and potential bonus.

What you will do
- Design and build systems that provision, manage, and scale network connectivity across customer, cloud, and Kubernetes environments.
- Build platform capabilities for service communication, routing, traffic management, segmentation, and observability.
- Extend APIs and services that make networking capabilities reliable and self-service.
- Design safe configuration, policy enforcement, traffic rollout, and failure-recovery systems.
- Own the reliability, scalability, and observability of networking and traffic-management systems.
- Lead debugging across application, Kubernetes, cloud, and network boundaries while driving networking standards and architectural direction.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience in software, infrastructure, or network engineering, focused on building and operating systems at scale.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language, with experience building production systems or services.
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, DNS, load balancing, NAT, and VPNs.
- Experience with cloud and Kubernetes networking, including VPCs, routing, network policy, and service connectivity.
- Experience building or operating distributed systems or networking infrastructure such as control planes, traffic-management systems, gateways, proxies, or automation systems.
- Must be based in and around San Francisco, Washington, DC, or New York City and willing to work in-office.
