Senior Software Engineer (Security & Distributed Systems)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain reliable backend services and distributed systems.
• Develop cybersecurity and software supply chain security platform components.
• Process, analyze, and manage large volumes of vulnerability, package, container, runtime, and software supply chain data.
• Design scalable APIs, services, data pipelines, and internal platform components for Linux, Kubernetes, containers, and cloud environments.
• Solve complex concurrency, performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and fault-tolerance problems.
• Own projects from technical design through deployment, participate in architecture discussions, review code, and collaborate with security researchers, product managers, and engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in backend platforms or distributed systems.
• Strong programming experience with Python, Go, C++, Java, or similar backend/system-level languages.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, backend architecture, concurrency, asynchronous processing, queues, caching, and distributed workloads.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems and internals, networking, processes, filesystems, memory, CPU utilization, and system performance.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, containers, Kubernetes, cloud environments, APIs, backend services, databases, and large-scale data systems.
• U.S. citizenship is required because the role may support U.S. government and Department of Defense customers.

Nice to have

• Experience with software supply chain security, vulnerability management, container or Kubernetes security, SBOMs, CVEs, DevSecOps, runtime security, or software composition analysis.
• Experience building security products or developer/security infrastructure and working with large vulnerability datasets.
• Knowledge of container images, registries, layers, packages, dependencies, Kubernetes internals, container runtimes, or Linux package ecosystems.
• Experience with CI/CD systems, software build pipelines, profiling, performance optimization, high availability, and multi-cluster environments.
