Specialist Software Engineer - Fullstack & AI (React, Python, AWS, LLMs): Building scalable full-stack cloud applications and AI-powered solutions that support scientific research, operations, and patient outcomes with an accent on generative AI, API integration, microservices, and cloud architecture. Focus on designing LLM-enabled applications, rapidly prototyping complex solutions, implementing resilient AWS architectures, and guiding software delivery from conception to deployment.
Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with time split between the Lisbon office and remote work
Salary: €51,812.60–€70,099.40 per year

What you will do
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable full-stack applications and digital solutions.
- Build applications using LLMs such as OpenAI GPT and other generative AI technologies.
- Develop front-end and back-end functionality using cloud technologies, with AWS preferred.
- Define cloud software architectures involving APIs, serverless services, and microservices.
- Own complex software projects from conception through deployment, managing scope, risk, and timelines.
- Collaborate with product teams, business stakeholders, designers, and engineers while providing technical guidance to junior developers.
Requirements
- Master’s degree with 4–6 years of relevant experience, bachelor’s degree with 6–8 years, or diploma with 10–12 years in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services and well-architected cloud design principles.
- Full-stack software development experience with React and Python preferred, plus other JavaScript frameworks, C#, and SQL/NoSQL.
- Experience with API integration, serverless technologies, and microservices architecture.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with vector databases for large language models.
- Experience with popular large language models, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
- Experience with prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.
