Lead Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server/Oracle)

What you will do

• Lead initiatives for Microsoft and Oracle database upgrades, patching, security, compliance, and new technology adoption.
• Establish strategies and processes for database performance, availability, capacity, scalability, replication, query optimization, and data archiving.
• Design, implement, and maintain logical and physical data models, enterprise data warehouses, data marts, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Monitor database growth, usage, transaction volumes, and traffic to maintain production stability and support mission-critical JD EnterpriseOne, KRONOS, and Lawson systems.
• Coordinate with Infrastructure, Operations, business customers, and technical teams throughout the project development lifecycle.
• Mentor junior DBAs and IT personnel while managing third-party and contract maintenance resources, vendor relationships, and license compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 6–8 years of experience including 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience with database design and deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning, SQL, and relational database design.
• Experience with Windows Server and SQL clustering; knowledge of the system development lifecycle.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication, relationship management, negotiation, and conflict-management skills.
• Ability to work outside regular office hours when required and travel 10–15% for projects, assignments, or educational activities.

Nice to have

• Experience managing a team and technical projects using project management disciplines.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle administration and tools, and relational database solution implementation.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix.
