Senior Software Engineer – Machine Learning (AI): Designing and developing ML products integrated with a customer data platform, with an accent on production machine learning, scalable ELT pipelines, and cloud service engineering. Focus on defining system architecture, managing model training and inference lifecycles, operating production systems, and solving ambiguous technical problems.
Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid with 3 days per week in the office

What you will do
- Design and develop machine learning products integrated with the customer data platform.
- Own technical areas and deliver ML product projects in collaboration with product managers, UX designers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Define system architecture and implement components that improve the user experience.
- Design and build performant, scalable ELT data pipelines for model training and inference lifecycles.
- Provide technical problem-solving in ambiguous scenarios and participate in production on-call support.
- Drive best practices across research, coding, testing, releases, source control, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in computer science, data science, machine learning, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building ML-driven products, including at least 3 years focused on production ML systems.
- Strong knowledge of data engineering, ML model development and deployment, ML pipelines, and production lifecycle management.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating scalable ML systems, including model selection and performance benchmarking.
- Proficiency in Python and ML ecosystem tools such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch, plus public cloud services such as AWS.
- Excellent written and verbal English is required, along with the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences and work across time zones.
Nice to have
- Experience with security design principles and best practices.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hive, Trino, Spark, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Open-source software contribution experience.
