What you will do
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with Texas SB 475 and TAMUS frameworks.
- Oversee institutional data inventories, documentation of data ownership and business rules, and compliance reporting and remediation planning.
- Plan and conduct enterprise data maturity assessments using frameworks such as DCAM, DAMA DMBOK, Gartner, and EDM Council.
- Provide technical leadership for data architecture, integration, metadata, lineage, master data management, data warehouses, analytics environments, and APIs.
- Establish data quality metrics, dashboards, and monitoring processes while supporting data stewards across colleges, divisions, and administrative units.
- Collaborate with Institutional Research, Business Intelligence, Analytics, IT, Information Security, Records Management, Legal, and executive leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in data management, data governance, enterprise data architecture, or related work in large organizations.
- Experience leading enterprise data governance initiatives and data maturity assessments.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, enterprise data architecture, metadata management, master data management, and data lifecycle strategies.
- Experience with data cataloging and data quality tools such as Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, Talend, or Ataccama.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, BI and analytics platforms, data privacy, security, compliance, data modeling, lineage, and integration methodologies.
Nice to have
- Certifications in data management or governance, such as CDMP or DAMA certifications.
- Experience with data maturity assessment methods in public-sector or higher-education environments.
- Experience with large academic institutions or multi-campus systems.
- Knowledge of Texas state reporting requirements and Texas SB 475 compliance.
