TL;DR
Quality Systems Engineer (Automotive) (IATF 16949/QMS): Maintaining and continuously improving a plant quality management system for automotive manufacturing with an accent on audits, compliance, documentation, and continuous improvement. Focus on coordinating IATF certification activities, leading internal audits, administering BOS requirements, and applying PPAP, FMEA, SPC, DOE, and MSA methodologies.
Location: Holland, MI; primary location: Lakewood

What you will do
- Maintain and continuously improve the plant Quality Management System and ensure compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and BOS standards.
- Coordinate LPA and ELPA processes, plant-level internal audits, IATF certification activities, and facility audits.
- Administer BOS requirements, change proposals, updates, document numbering, record retention, and document control systems.
- Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, process maps, audit workbooks, and other quality documentation.
- Monitor quality KPIs, support customer satisfaction and production quality deliverables, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train employees and leadership on BOS requirements, quality systems, process changes, and SharePoint administration while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Quality Technician or Quality Engineer role, including required Quality Systems and manufacturing experience.
- Formal training and demonstrated experience with IATF 16949, ISO/TS 16949, TQM, continuous improvement, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, and MSA.
- Certified Internal Auditor certification required; ASQ certification is preferred.
- Strong analytical, root-cause problem-solving, organizational, communication, computer, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, safety rules, procedure manuals, and technical documentation.
Nice to have
- Automotive Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 supplier and high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Automotive seating systems or seating mechanism experience.
- Experience with GMAW and laser welding operations or assembly manufacturing processes.
- Advanced quality systems and auditing experience in automotive manufacturing.
