Senior Platform Engineer (HPC): Building internal platforms, services, data pipelines, and tooling that give researchers reliable access to simulations, data, and analysis with an accent on developer productivity, cloud infrastructure, and high-performance computing. Focus on architecting resilient platform services, managing HPC and hybrid infrastructure, automating operations, and mentoring engineers in a research and development environment.

What you will do
- Build and own an internal developer platform for researchers and engineers.
- Design platform services for data analysis pipelines, data warehouses, dashboards, research code environments, and web applications exposing HPC simulations.
- Architect control planes, APIs, reusable components, and data-pipeline frameworks.
- Provide platform capabilities for HPC clusters, job scheduling, distributed filesystems, and research computing portals.
- Build secure cloud infrastructure and observability across on-premises and cloud environments, including infrastructure-as-code, alerting, and incident response.
- Document the platform, establish technical standards, lead modernization efforts, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or software engineering, including internal tools or platforms used by other engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python, Rust, and/or C++.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, infrastructure automation, cloud infrastructure, and containerization or orchestration.
- Experience designing reliable, observable, scalable systems and mentoring engineers or leading cross-functional projects.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, current U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
Nice to have
- Experience with HPC clusters, job scheduling, Open OnDemand, scientific computing, or research environments.
- Experience with data platforms, data warehouses, analytics, and dashboard infrastructure.
- Knowledge of secure enclaves, identity management, export-controlled data, or cloud cost optimization.
- Background in manufacturing, experimental physics, or fusion energy.
