What you will do
- Perform field testing of soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
- Conduct onsite materials testing for commercial and transportation construction projects.
- Work with project managers and other technicians to verify that project specifications are followed.
- Apply mathematical equations and classroom engineering knowledge to field testing.
- Identify and help resolve issues arising during construction.
- Work outdoors across varying climates, terrains, heights, confined spaces, and supported trenches.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Commitment to full-time employment for six months, from May through November or December.
- Ability to safely lift 50–75 pounds or more and perform physically demanding work, including climbing, crouching, kneeling, and crawling.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, learn required mathematical procedures, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Safety-focused mindset and willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions.
Nice to have
- Experience driving a pickup truck or other large vehicle.
- Current study toward a civil engineering, construction management, or related degree.
- Related experience in construction, labor, landscaping, or engineering.
- Mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
