Nutritionist (Liver Transplant) (Clinical Nutrition): Assessing liver transplant patients and developing individualized nutrition plans across inpatient and outpatient care with an accent on clinical assessment, dietary counseling, and coordination with medical services. Focus on designing complex care plans, monitoring patient progress, and supporting patients, families, students, and the broader care team.

Location: Tufts Medical Center; inpatient and outpatient patient-care areas

Pay range: $55,883.46–$69,859.61 per year

What you will do

  • Assess the nutritional needs and medical records of liver transplant patients referred by clinics and physicians.
  • Develop individualized diet plans and counsel patients and families on food planning, purchasing, and preparation.
  • Monitor patient progress across follow-up visits and update care plans as needed.
  • Coordinate nutritional services with medical services and provide consultations to medical staff and patient-care teams.
  • Teach and precept students, conduct group sessions, and provide nutrition education to patients, staff, and community groups.
  • Maintain patient records, statistics, evaluations, progress notes, scheduling, and billing information.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition.
  • Dietitian license.
  • At least one year of experience in clinical nutrition or public health.
  • English communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate empathetically with patients and families in spoken and written form.
  • Knowledge of drug–nutrient interactions, disease-related nutrition, enteral and parenteral support, counseling, patient assessment, and care-plan development.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition.
  • Two years of experience in clinical nutrition or public health.
