Lead Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States; hybrid work with defined in-person presence requirements. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

Salary for work performed in Maryland: $131,200–$238,300 annually, depending on location, skills, experience, education, and market factors. A discretionary bonus may also be available.

What you will do

• Lead the identification, validation, prioritization, and remediation of security risks across assigned applications and projects.
• Identify security requirement gaps and design, implement, operate, and monitor security controls.
• Develop enterprise strategies for consistent security-control use, monitoring, compliance, and enforcement.
• Review, triage, and prioritize security-control output and resolve operating discrepancies.
• Evaluate and recommend new security technologies, techniques, and tools.
• Lead process-improvement initiatives, mentor junior staff, and provide backup coverage for next-level management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least seven years of related experience, or equivalent training and experience.
• Direct experience leading network and systems security architecture, secure software assurance, intrusion detection, defense and incident response, configuration management, access controls, and security policy development.
• In-depth knowledge of multiple communications protocols and broad information-security practices.
• Experience managing cybersecurity tools for configuration assessment, log aggregation, integrity verification, web application security testing, network access control, network intrusion prevention, and endpoint security.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication, planning, organization, collaboration, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with defined in-person presence requirements in Rockville, Maryland.
