Assistant/Associate Professor of the Practice and Assistant Director (Agricultural Extension)

Location: Prairie View, Texas, United States; regular travel to county offices and outreach events is required, with travel of approximately 25%–75% depending on business needs.

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day management, development, and strategic planning of PVAMU Extension outreach portfolios.
• Coordinate faculty, departments, program staff, stakeholders, agencies, and industry partners around regional and statewide needs.
• Develop educational and community outreach programs, project proposals, budgets, and operational frameworks.
• Oversee project implementation, quality assurance, data standards, PEARS and NIFA Reporting System reporting, and impact analysis.
• Provide leadership for personnel planning, recruitment, retention, staff training, and county expansion initiatives across 100 counties.
• Teach an experiential-learning course periodically and contribute to research programming, publications, conferences, committees, and funding development.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Agriculture, Extension Education, or a related field.
• At least seven years of experience in Extension programming, applied research, or agricultural administration.
• Leadership, supervisory, community development, and grant or funding acquisition experience.
• Experience with Cooperative Extension program development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Strong managerial, communication, collaboration, multitasking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database applications, specialized software, and digital tools for educational programming.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of USDA and land-grant programs, especially those related to 1890 institutions.
• Experience with agriculture, natural resources, family and consumer sciences, youth development, or community development programming.
• Experience interpreting programs for stakeholders and community leaders.
• Experience with federal funding issues, external grants, and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
