Sr. Engineer, 2 Firmware (Embedded/IoT)

Location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States; telecommuting allowed. Travel of up to 10% domestically and internationally to customer sites and other locations is required. Work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., five days per week, 40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement application-level firmware solutions and moderately complex firmware designs.
• Perform microcontroller board bring-up, chip-level hardware debugging, and firmware defect troubleshooting across bench, lab, and production testing.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, and business stakeholders to define requirements, designs, implementations, and test cases.
• Develop modular firmware designs across platforms and support connected B2B and B2C solutions with myQ cloud architects.
• Supervise small developer groups, prioritize work, manage risk, and drive deliverables.
• Generate project plans, manage Gantt charts and Scrum backlogs, and lead Agile initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; foreign equivalent degrees are accepted.
• At least five years of experience in the offered role, as a Firmware Engineer or Architect, Software Analyst, Software Programmer, or a related position.
• Experience with C/C++ programming, microcontroller board bring-up, and chip-level hardware debugging.
• Experience with serial communication interfaces and CAN or vehicle serial bus.
• Experience communicating with stakeholders, reporting status, creating test cases, and reviewing firmware, hardware, and connected software designs.
