AVP, Global Head of Payroll (AI & Automation)

Location: US-CA-Santa Clara; must be based at one of hirify.global's major U.S. sites. Travel required: 10% of the time.

Salary: $181,200–$339,750 per year, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end payroll execution across all countries, including off-cycles, terminations, equity and incentive payments, and year-end processing.
• Establish global service standards and ensure statutory compliance, tax filings, audit readiness, and SOX-aligned controls.
• Manage payroll vendors and managed-service providers, including contracts, SLAs, governance, and commercial performance.
• Lead global payroll and time-tracking consolidation from design through deployment, including vendor selection, country transitions, standardization, and change management.
• Define the target operating model, govern scope and budget, and report risks and progress to HR and Finance leadership.
• Drive AI and automation across validation, reconciliations, gross-to-net checks, ticket triage, anomaly detection, and predictive controls.

Requirements

• 10+ years of payroll experience, including 5+ years leading payroll at a global or multi-region scope.
• Experience owning a global or large regional payroll consolidation, transformation, or vendor transition.
• Experience managing leaders across multiple countries and time zones.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll and tax, with working knowledge of multi-country compliance requirements.
• Experience with major payroll and time-tracking platforms and with AI and automation in payroll or adjacent HR or Finance operations.
• Strong controls, audit, risk, and executive stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with incentive, commission, and equity payroll at scale.
• Experience implementing AI-enabled payroll or workforce management capabilities at enterprise scale.
• M&A payroll integration or divestiture experience.
