Senior Agentic Data Engineer (AI)

Location: 100% remote eligible, with quarterly strategy meetings held in person

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 plus bonus

What you will do

• Design and evolve scalable data platforms, cloud-native services, enterprise integrations, and reusable data engineering frameworks.
• Build and optimize multi-tenant data platforms, REST APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, event-driven integrations, and data warehouse solutions.
• Establish engineering practices for data quality, observability, testing, security, governance, and software reliability.
• Optimize AWS-based platforms through automation, monitoring, observability, cost optimization, and performance tuning.
• Lead architecture reviews and complex technical initiatives while balancing scalability, security, performance, reliability, and business objectives.
• Mentor Data Engineers and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Analytics, Quality Engineering, and Architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, backend software engineering, or cloud-native platform development.
• Advanced Python skills, including object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, type hinting, and application architecture.
• Expertise with SQLAlchemy ORM, Alembic migrations, PostgreSQL, relational database design, and query optimization.
• Experience with scalable REST APIs, distributed systems, enterprise data pipelines, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, automation, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives, make architectural decisions, solve complex problems, communicate effectively, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Snowflake, modern data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, or large-scale analytics platforms.
• Event-driven architectures, streaming platforms, distributed data processing, Kubernetes, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, machine learning pipelines, LLM data platforms, vector databases, RAG, or semantic search.
• AWS, Snowflake, cloud, or data engineering certifications.
• Experience with enterprise architecture, technology strategy, data governance, reusable frameworks, or shared developer tooling.
