TL;DR
Proposal Writer (AI/Defense): Developing persuasive federal proposal content for autonomous unmanned-systems solutions across the full pursuit lifecycle with an accent on translating complex software, AI, hardware, and systems-integration concepts into compliant customer-facing narratives. Focus on analyzing DoD solicitations, shaping win themes and discriminators, interviewing subject-matter experts, and driving multiple submissions from incomplete inputs through final production.
Location: Austin, TX or Washington, D.C.; hybrid on-site with up to 5% travel. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance are required.

What you will do
- Write RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, Sources Sought responses, white papers, solution briefs, capability statements, executive summaries, and technical and management volumes.
- Analyze solicitations, statements of work, evaluation criteria, and acquisition documentation to create compliant, responsive, and persuasive content.
- Partner with Capture, Business Development, Programs, Product, Engineering, and leadership to align narratives with win themes, discriminators, customer priorities, and mission needs.
- Translate complex software, autonomy, AI, systems-integration, hardware, and fielded-capability concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interview subject-matter experts, identify content gaps, and develop technical approaches, architectures, implementation strategies, management approaches, and mission-impact narratives.
- Support storyboarding, drafting, editing, color-team reviews, revisions, visual development, final production, submission, and maintenance of reusable proposal content libraries.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on proposal writing, proposal development, or business development writing experience supporting U.S. Government or DoD opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the Federal and DoD acquisition environment, FAR, DFARS, and proposal compliance requirements.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, information-gathering, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to incorporate capture strategies, win themes, discriminators, customer priorities, and evaluation criteria into proposal content.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including complex document formatting, styles, templates, and proposal production.
Nice to have
- Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
- Experience in defense technology, aerospace, autonomous systems, or another regulated technical environment.
- Familiarity with OTAs, CSOs, BAAs, SBIR/STTR, rapid acquisition, Shipley, compliance matrices, and color-team reviews.
- APMP certification or another proposal or capture management credential.
