TL;DR
Senior LDAR Environmental Technician (Oil and Gas): Performing field inspections at oil and gas facilities to identify and quantify hydrocarbon leaks and vents with an accent on emission data collection, safety, and accurate documentation. Focus on leading independent inspections, operating detection and measurement technologies, calibrating equipment, and preparing field reports during 12-hour day shifts.

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana, United States; onsite field work

Salary: $25–$28 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

  • Coordinate navigation to oil and gas facilities using maps and GPS.
  • Lead or independently perform accurate, safe, and efficient LDAR field inspections.
  • Assist with safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Calibrate and maintain technical equipment.
  • Use detection and measurement technologies to identify and quantify hydrocarbon leaks and vents.
  • Collect emission data and prepare required field reports.

Requirements

  • Intermediate experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Effective computer skills, including Excel and Microsoft Office, plus proficiency with Android OS.
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods while handling technical equipment, work outdoors in all weather, climb ladders and stairs, occasionally work at heights, and lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice to have

  • Experience with natural gas processing or transmission facilities.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or another applicable technical field.
  • Experience with hydrocarbon detection and measurement, LDAR, instrumentation, stack emission testing, or mechanical work.
