Senior Software Engineer - Engage Studio (Ruby/Rails)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; 3 days per week in the hirify.global office

hirify.global develops an agentic marketing and customer intelligence platform that uses AI to support continuous, governed marketing execution across web, mobile, and desktop.

What you will do

• Design and implement event-driven, serverless architectures for multi-channel campaign management and delivery across email, push, SMS, WhatsApp, and LINE.
• Develop Ruby/Rails and TypeScript systems, using AWS services and AI coding tools with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Build and maintain messaging pipelines, campaign delivery, event tracking, unsubscribe management, and dynamic in-browser and in-app messaging.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design on scalable cross-component features and own delivery from technical design through rollout and post-launch support.
• Improve testing, observability, CI/CD, code quality, and technical practices through reviews and mentorship.
• Operate production systems, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production web applications.
• Strong Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience, or equivalent backend experience with Node, Go, or Java/Kotlin, including REST or GraphQL API design.
• Experience designing and operating event-driven, serverless architectures on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and React, plus experience with relational or distributed query systems and complex SQL optimization.
• Experience designing systems handling significant scale, concurrency, or data volume in production.
• Business-level English proficiency, strong communication skills, collaborative working style, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Experience collaborating across time zones in remote and hybrid environments.
