Rigging Specialist

Location: Busch Gardens Williamsburg, United States; onsite work required for park shows, events, festivals, attractions, and outdoor activities.

What you will do

• Support the theming and technical teams with upgrades to existing shows, events, festivals, and attractions.
• Coordinate project timelines, site visits, guest impact, department involvement, and updates for park management.
• Develop installation, implementation, and strike schedules for in-house and contracted services.
• Coordinate purchasing, vendor clearance paperwork, purchase orders, and invoicing.
• Provide technical expertise in rigging, stagecraft, special effects, lighting, scenery, theming, and technical design.
• Assist with scope development, budgets, bidding, vendor selection, equipment purchases, installation supervision, and design reviews.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
• Thorough knowledge of technical theater, including rigging, theater safety, audio, lighting, video, digital media, special effects, scenery, and stagecraft.
• At least two years of education from a community college, vocational program, or technical trade school.
• At least three years of theatrical or theme park experience and two years in a leadership role related to live event production.
• Ability to operate high-reach equipment and forklifts, work at heights up to 90 feet, lift more than 25 pounds but less than 50 pounds, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings while managing multiple projects.

Nice to have

• Four-year degree in theater or a related discipline.
• Two years of project management or coordination experience.
• AutoCAD drafting experience and proven knowledge of a technical discipline.
