Jr Software Engineer (SRE)

Location: Canada; remote or hybrid work in Mississauga

Salary: CAD 70,000–80,000 per year, plus full-time benefits.

What you will do

• Support the operation, monitoring, deployment validation, and operational readiness of critical production services.
• Participate in incident response, on-call practices, post-incident reviews, and reliability improvement initiatives under mentorship.
• Help implement monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability improvements using logs, metrics, traces, and events.
• Develop scripts and automation to eliminate repetitive operational work and reduce toil.
• Contribute to AI-powered operational tools, AI-assisted runbooks, and troubleshooting workflows.
• Partner with development teams to adopt reliability and observability best practices and understand production architecture.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience through employment, internships, or co-op programs.
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Basic programming or scripting experience.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn complex systems, production operations, and distributed systems.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Azure cloud services.
• Exposure to Kubernetes or containerized applications.
• Familiarity with Datadog, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK.
• Interest in AI, automation, and distributed systems.
