TL;DR
Research Engineer II (Nanofabrication): Developing and optimizing nanofabrication processes and operating cleanroom tools for MEMS, BioMEMS, academic, and industrial research projects with an accent on electron beam lithography, thin film deposition, etching, and metrology. Focus on creating process recipes, maintaining tool performance, training users, and troubleshooting equipment with vendors.

Location: Main Campus, College Station, Texas, United States. Onsite work in the AggieFab nanofabrication cleanroom; employment requires authorization to work in the United States and completion of Form I-9.

What you will do

  • Develop and optimize process recipes for AggieFab customer research projects.
  • Operate nanofabrication tools and execute staff runs for academic and industrial customers.
  • Prepare detailed process reports and establish standard operating and user-training procedures.
  • Maintain stable tool operation through control runs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Train researchers and work with equipment vendors to improve tool performance and uptime.
  • Participate in micro- and nanofabrication projects, including MEMS and BioMEMS processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2 years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with a variety of nanofabrication tools and general wafer fabrication operations.
  • Hands-on experience with processes such as thin film deposition, electron beam lithography, photolithography, metrology, and reactive ion etching.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • BS in electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related science or engineering field.
  • Experience in an academic nanofabrication facility or semiconductor R&D or manufacturing facility.
  • PhD in a related science or engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant nanofabrication or semiconductor facility experience.
