Entry-Level Interior Design Associate (Furniture Retail)

Location: Farmingdale, New York, United States; onsite in a retail showroom

Training pay: $17 per hour for 2–6 weeks. Post-training base pay: $13 per hour, plus uncapped commission and bonuses. Average annual earning potential after training is $45,000–$65,000+.

What you will do

• Help customers select furniture, décor, accessories, fabrics, colors, and design styles for their homes.
• Create room layouts and customized design recommendations based on customer needs and lifestyles.
• Schedule and support professional home consultations, including presentations of room designs, furniture, fabric, accessory, and installation options.
• Drive store and design program sales by applying the company selling process, following up with customers, and supporting promotions.
• Maintain product knowledge, showroom displays, design center materials, customer records, orders, payments, and delivery scheduling.
• Support customer service, store events, peer training, opening and closing procedures, and general showroom operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication, customer service, interpersonal, organizational, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to learn furniture products, design principles, and internal systems; strong attention to detail.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Availability to work business-required schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods; background and drug screening required.

Nice to have

• Previous selling experience and the ability to close sales.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
• Experience with design software, design, retail, or customer service.
