Backend Software Engineer Focused on Distribution (Military Logistics)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and development of backend services supporting distribution capabilities across TyrOS.
• Build logistics workflows for transportation planning, routing, dispatch, shipment execution, asset allocation, scheduling, tracking, and dynamic replanning.
• Translate operational workflows into domain models, APIs, services, messaging patterns, data pipelines, and event-driven systems.
• Develop performant production services in Go that reconcile inventory, demand, capacity, location, time, priority, and changing operational state.
• Integrate optimization and planning capabilities into reliable, understandable, and executable software workflows.
• Provide technical leadership through system design, code review, mentorship, and ownership of complex cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend, platform, or distributed systems engineering experience with substantial ownership of production software.
• Experience building operational systems for logistics, transportation, fulfillment, routing, dispatch, warehousing, supply chain, travel, or similar domains.
• Strong programming skills in Go, C++, Java, Rust, or another performant language.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, messaging, state management, failure handling, consistency, and reliability.
• Experience designing complex domain models, APIs, event-driven architectures, cloud integrations, and systems that continuously reconcile changing state.
• Ability to lead technical projects from ambiguous problem definition through deployment and production operation while collaborating with product managers, domain experts, operations researchers, and engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with routing, scheduling, allocation, matching, capacity planning, or other constrained decision-making systems.
• Familiarity with MIP, LP, CP, graph algorithms, heuristics, vehicle-routing techniques, OR-Tools, Gurobi, or other optimization tools.
• Experience with geospatial, temporal, transportation, logistics, edge-compute, unreliable-network, or latency-sensitive systems.
• Experience with military logistics, defense software, contested logistics, or Department of Defense users and systems.
